Run Around the Pines 2009!

So for my 2nd 5k I did the Winter Park, Run Around the Pines which is almost right outside of my neighborhood... I am pleased with how I did even though I know I can do better! With spring travel coming around the corner, I am not sure when I will be able to do my next race, but hopefully I can beat my 5k 34:55 time next race and make it close to 30:00! Hopefully the next race will be above 50 degrees!
The start time was actually 45 seconds behind the timer on my shoe so I actually finished in 34:55 and not 35:35 as it showed on that clock!

I am off to South Korea on Saturday!!! Woo hoo!!!

Ye Olde Rollins Krewe at Gasparilla 2009!

One of the biggest events that happens each year here in Florida is the Gasparilla Pirate Festival in Tampa!  The event is homage to the Spanish pirate, Jose Gaspar, who terrorized the waters off of Florida in the 1800's.  Today it is a street festival and parade that celebrates all that is fun about being a pirate! Oh ya, and there are beads... lots of them! 

It is another great event unique to Florida that definitely adds to the fun we have down here!  This was my first time attending, and honestly, I'm not sure how I managed to not take part in it these past few years!  

This is a picture of the "Rollins Krewe" in downtown Tampa after having brunch last Sunday morning.  You can see the  Jose Gasparilla, the ship that invades Tampa each year to officially start the Gasparilla Festival, behind us in this picture!
